    After the killings by Aum members had become known some people wanted to revive failed western theories of mind-control to explain exactly why the phenomena of Aum happened, so as to be able to predict events for the future. There is a medium sized antireligious contingent in Japan wanting to push their own special anti-religious agenda. They claim that religions use some form of mind-control on their parishioners. It is of interest to note that many of those people voicing opinions claiming mind-control exists are psychiatrists. Thus it is in everyone's interest that this book exams the concept of mind-control, where it came from, and why it has been dismissed overseas as an unscientific theory. However, at the same time it is vitally important to explain what did happen within the Aum facilities and why individual behavior changes of Aum members occurred.
