I found Rick's website on the Internet
while searching for info. on a "Christian Identity" group, which clearly
hates blacks, Jews, and just about everybody else outside their group. (I know
of some people who are sort of into this kind of teaching). I asked him
some questions concerning something, but found his response to be a bit, well,
unfriendly. I e-mailed him back, politely quoting some Scripture (from
the New Testament) regarding something else, only to have him retort: "I'm not
here to argue theology with you." (I never tried to argue one thing with him.)
I didn't understand why he was so pithy.
I guess I am pathetically thin-skinned,
but felt badly about his apparent attitude toward me, and any
other Bible-believing Christians, that we are some sort of
bigots with our own "interpretation" of the Word of God. I checked out
his website and learned that he is anti-any sort of sharing of your faith with
anyone. I saw that he put down reputable ministries like YWAM, when I've known
people who have been wonderfully transformed by God through these and others.
I see that he seems to have a problem with those brave ladies who were jailed
in Afghanistan for sharing the Gospel with some Muslims. He even has an issue
with "Operation Christmas Child," the shoebox ministry that distributes boxes
of toys to needy children throughout the world, because (*gasp*) there is some
sort of Gospel literature placed in with the presents. (Heaven forbid, we try
to tell little children about Jesus!)
I understand trying to inform people
about cults and all, but what does this man have against Christians sharing
their beliefs? I cannot figure out what this fellow's problem is. Can
you?
Anyway, I am so glad I came upon your
site, because now that I know a bit more about him, I don't feel so badly
about his response to me. Thank you.
